Neutral Print Pencil Skirt

Hello, everyone!

Even though fall officially starts tomorrow, it was in the 80s here yesterday. What?!?!? It hasn’t been nearly that warm lately, but we definitely had to turn on the air conditioning in our apartment over the weekend. Because it has been warm, I don’t feel like a post with a sleeveless top is unacceptable. :) After all, I do believe in dressing for the weather rather than the season.

I saw this skirt a few weeks ago at the Banana Republic Factory Store and loved the neutral print because I knew I could wear it with a lot of different colors. I opted to go with this top in a pretty emerald shade and neutral shoes. Throw on a tan blazer, and it would work great for the office.

I do want to rave about these shoes for a second. I have a pair of nude pumps that I wear all the time (seriously … I should maybe order a second pair so I have them when my first pair wears out), but I love the stud details on this Sole Society pair. The heel is only 2.5 inches, so they’re comfortable to walk in. They’re a great alternative to my trusty pumps. And they’re WAY more affordable than the Valentino ones that I drool over every time I see them. Banana Republic also has a similar pair with a higher heel that costs a bit more than my Sole Society pair.

Coral Blouse: Look Two

Hello, everyone!

My apologies for not posting this yesterday! It has been a crazy week at work, so I didn’t have a chance to put together my third post for this week until now.

For this post, I’ve styled the same blouse in my post from Monday, which was more of a work-appropriate look. This look is much more casual, although in my office (I regularly see people wearing jeans and t-shirts), it would probably be OK if I went with a different shoe and threw on a blazer with it. I hope this look shows you that the color of this top really does work with a lot of different things. I went with a neutral gray jean for this outfit rather than another bright color like I did for my outfit from earlier this week, but I love this combination. And it just so happens to perfectly coordinate with these earrings from Outrage Fashion. :)

Shopping for Black Ankle Boots

Hello, everyone!

I’ve been browsing for black ankle boots (sorry, I just can’t call them booties) for the past few weeks and found so many pairs that I like. I ended up ordering these from Nordstrom, but they didn’t quite fit, which meant that I had to head to the mall over the weekend to return them. What a bummer! :) I ended up trying on several other pairs while I was at Nordstrom. Which ones do you like best? Check out my Instagram page to see which pair I picked.

Please do forgive the weird jean folds in these pics. I wanted to make sure I got pictures of the full shoe.

Vince Camuto “Kasi” Pointy Toe Bootie

I tried these on in brown instead of black because the store didn’t have a black pair in my size. They were quite comfortable, and I like the snake-embossed accent on the heel. I usually wear a 6 1/2 in shoes, but the size 7s fit better. These also come in dark garnet, which is kind of a cranberry-burgundy-ish shade.

Vince Camuto “Caden” Snake Embossed Leather Bootie

I like the snake embossed texture of these, but they were a bit difficult to put on. They don’t have any sort of zipper or stretch to them, so you just have to slip them on (i.e., make funny faces as you try to squeeze them onto your feet). Once I had them on, they felt good and fit well, but I prefer to not have to fight with my shoes to get them on. I thought about trying a size 7 to see if they were easier to slip on, but I think a 7 would have been a bit loose on my foot. These also come in a dark garnet suede.

Halogen “Claudia” Zipper Trim Leather Bootie

The sales associate couldn’t find both shoes in my size, so I wasn’t able to try on the pair. I like the zipper detail on the sides and the quilted panel on the back of the ankle, but the leather was a bit stiff. Also, the shoe was loose across the top of my foot. It looks like these come in black only.

Halogen “Riley” Open Toe Bootie

I tried these on in a 6 1/2, but they were too tight, so I sized up to a 7. The leather is soft and not stiff at all, and the shoe is actually very comfortable (well, as comfortable as shoe can be when it has a 4-inch heel). I also like the asymmetrical shape on the top. These also come in burgundy and chocolate.

Louise et Cie “Sarmienta” Pump

So I suppose these technically aren’t an ankle boot but are instead really a pump with cutouts, but for me, they would serve largely the same purpose as an ankle boot. I love the cutouts, and the leather was really soft. It was easy to move my foot and walk in these even with the straps around my ankle. These also come in a color called Mediterranean, which is a fabulous blue.
