Black Coat Roundup

Hello, everyone!

I was going through my coats a few weeks ago and realized the sad state of my black wool coat. I bought it years ago and have resisted replacing it because I like it so much. Unfortunately, the lining is completely ripped in one of the sleeves, and I can’t quite button it anymore (boooo for aging and no longer fitting into all my clothes), so it’s time to retire my coat and find a new one. A black winter coat is a great staple to have in your wardrobe, and while I also encourage having a coat in a fun color (I have a red one … no surprise there), I consider a black coat an essential item. I’ve included a roundup of some of my favorite options below. As of this post, all of the coats below are $225 or less, and most of them are $200 or less. I imagine they’ll all be on sale as the holidays approach, so keep an eye out if you’re on the hunt for a better deal!

My Current Obsession: Berkeley Zip Bag from Boden

Hello, everyone!

If you’ve been following the blog at all, you know that I love leopard print. I have several items of clothing that are leopard print (see here, here, here, and here), and let’s not forget my leopard print pumps (here, here, and here) and clutch (here and here). Needless to say, when I saw Boden’s Berkeley Zip Bag in black/tan leopard (also comes in grey/snow leopard), I was immediately obsessed. I love the size of this bag, the size zip pockets, and the leopard panel on the front. I think if it were all leopard print it might be too much, but the front panel is just enough visual interest and fun. The only downside to this bag is the price: $238. I love this bag, but I’m not willing to spend that much on it, so I’ll definitely be checking the site regularly to see if it goes on sale.

Things I’m Loving: October 2015

Hello, everyone!

Here’s this month’s edition of some things I’m loving. I’m in the process of trying to sell and replace some old furniture and buy some things I actually like, so I thought I’d include the dining room pieces I just bought (on sale!!!). The table is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Yay!

Bauble Bar Slim Bar Pendant

I’ve worn this necklace several times on the blog, and it continues to stay in heavy rotation. I love how minimalist it is, so it’s a great piece to throw on if you want to wear jewelry but aren’t really in the mood for a huge statement necklace. The chain is a bit short, so I sometimes use a necklace extender when I want it to be longer.

West Elm Crest Bentwood Chair and Mid-century Expandable Dining Table

DiningChair DiningTable

I’m still loving mid-century modern furniture and have been eyeing this table for months. I sold our Ikea dining set a few weeks ago on Craigslist and immediately bought this table. It took me a few days (okay …. two weeks) to pick out the chairs, but I finally decided on these. I love the sleek shape and think they’ll look great with the table. I can’t wait to have people over for dinner soon!

Lou & Grey Signaturesoft Cowl Tunic

Because I work from home a few days a week (BEST. THING. EVER.), I wear a lot of loungewear when I’m home. I recently saw this tunic when I was browsing through the Lou & Greg collection at LOFT and fell in love with it. It is incredibly soft and cozy, so it’s been perfect the past few weeks as the temperature has been dropping. The fit is loose, but I prefer loungewear to be roomy. I’m seriously considering buying it in blue also.
