I’m introducing a new series today because, well, it’s my blog, so I can. I’m calling it The Style Dial, and in this series, I’m offering some celebrity style suggestions. I always love seeing what the stars step out it in, so I thought I’d try my hand at some virtual styling. The people I feature here don’t necessarily need any style help, but I sometimes see a dress and immediately think it would look great on someone in particular.
It’s time for fashion week!! New York Fashion Week starts on Thursday, followed by London, Milan, and Paris. An entire month of fabulous fashion. Le sigh … it’s like heaven, and seeing what comes down the runway gives me something to think about other than the frigid temperatures this time of year. I have the style.com app on my phone and love to browse the latest shows. I was browsing through some shows over the weekend and saw this dress from Elie Saab’s spring 2015 couture collection. The collection included several dresses with a similar pattern, but this one was my favorite. I love how light and flowy the fabric looks, and the pattern and colors are just gorgeous. I even like the high neck.
When I saw this dress, I immediately thought of Emma Stone. Not everyone can embrace a patterned dress and pull it off, but I feel like she could. She consistently looks flawless on the runway, thanks in part to her stylist, Petra Flannery, who has also styled Reese Witherspoon, Zoe Saldana, and Mila Kunis, and has been knocking it out of the park this awards season. Her Lanvin jumpsuit at the Golden Globes this year and the tuxedo-inspired Dior gown she wore to the SAG awards are just two recent examples. I love that she takes risks, and they seem to pay off. While this Elie Saab dress might be different than what she’s been choosing for the red carpet recently, I think it would be a great choice for her. And as she proves time and time again, different is good.
