My Current Obsession: D’Orsay Flats

So … I love shoes. Love them. A lot … in a I’m-running-out-of-shoe-space-in-my-closet kind of way. I tend to go for pumps, but I love finding cute and comfy flats for the days when my outfit just looks better with flats or when my feet need a break from heels. Lately, I’ve been loving d’orsay flats.

D’orsay-style shoes feature a cutaway vamp and typically come in heels or flats.  Nearly all the pairs I’ve seen have a pointed toe, which I think makes them look feminine. A pointed-toe flat is also a nice alternative to the rounded-toe ballet flats I have (and also love of course).

I recently bought two pairs of d’orsay flats: a black pair and a tan/gold pair. Because my feet are a little narrow, I opted to get pairs with ankle straps so they don’t slip off. I’ve worn both pairs over the past few weeks, and I’m loving them!

The black pair are the BCBGeneration Tilda d’orsay flats (available here in black, here in other colors, and similar styles here and here), and I have to say that they’re fabulous. They’re comfortable right out of the box, and the Velcro ankle strap makes it easy to get them on and off. I wore these with a cute black and white striped dress this week, and it was a great look. I’m sure that outfit will make it to the blog at some point!

The tan/gold pair are  the Isaac Mizrahi New York Evelyn flats (available herehere, and here). I love the gold toe, and the leather isn’t stiff. I wore these recently with white jeans and a green and white blouse, and they might become my neutral flats for the summer.

What can I say? I love this shoe style. I would be lying if I said I hadn’t considered buying another pair — most likely in a fun, bright color — but I’m resisting.

What do you think about this style? What would you wear with flats like these?
