As I mentioned in my last shoe review, I love neutral-colored shoes, and anything in a tan/cognac color definitely falls into this category. I have some peep-toe ankle boots in tan (here and here), but they have a stiletto heel. I’ve been looking for a tan sandal with a stacked heel since I bought my flare jeans because I think a wide-leg jean or pant can stand up to a shoe with a thicker heel.
These sandals, Ann Taylor’s Margo Leather Sandals, have a 3.25-inch heel, which is pretty close to what I consider the perfect heel height. The heel is much more substantial than the stiletto heels I typically wear, and the thicker heel makes this pair feel stable on my foot. The toe has a very slightly square shape, and the shoe has an adjustable buckle at the ankle. The hardware on the buckle is gold. The ankle strap is wide, so it doesn’t cut into my skin the way some shoes with super skinny ankle straps do. There is also a strap across the toe.
The color in the pictures below is classic tan, which looks slightly lighter in my pictures than it does on the Ann Taylor website. It still looks like a warm tan to me and looks good on any skin tone. As with the Katie Leather Sandal, the leather is soft and flexible and didn’t rub my foot when I walked around my apartment.
These sandals are also available in a wet stucco color. If you’re looking for something similar, check out the Aldo Istrago sandal, Aldo Okelani sandal, or Clarks Oriana Bess sandal. If you’re looking for a shoe with a wide heel like this one but want a lighter color, Ann Taylor also has the Trisha Exotic Leather Slide (available in pink buff).
What do you think? Should I keep these or return them? Was this kind of post helpful at all? What other information should I include next time?
