Silky Jogger Pants

Hello, everyone!

I know I’ve been missing some posts recently. I’m still trying to find balance with my full-time job and my Pure Barre teaching schedule. For the next few weeks, at least through the holidays, I’m going to post only twice a week instead of my regular three times. I’ll do one outfit post and one series post. After the new year, I hope to return to three posts a week. Fingers crossed!

I’ve featured jogger pants on the blog before (here and here), but they’ve been casual and cozy. These silky jogger pants caught my eye at LOFT several weeks ago. I love the red/rust color, and the style and fabric are the perfect balance of chic but not overly dressy. I went with a neutral shoe and sweater, but added a colorful scarf for some more color and pattern.

Athleisure: T-shirt and Jogger Pants

Hello, everyone!

So … “athleisure” is a thing, and apparently, it’s here to stay. You’ve probably seen people sporting some athleisure gear even if you didn’t realize what it is. Athleisure clothes are basically workout or leisure clothes that are cute and stylish and that aren’t necessarily for (only) the gym. Think the Lou & Grey collection from LOFT or a lot of the things you see in stores like Athleta and Lululemon. Even designer brands are embracing this trend (and charging a ridiculous amount of money for things like cashmere track pants). While I’ll never dish out hundreds of dollars for Karl Lagerfeld sweatshirt, I have no problem with embracing the idea of comfortable clothes that have some style.

These jogger pants are a great example of athleisure wear. I dressed them up for a post in January, but I thought doing a casual look with them would be fun too. I’ve worn a version of this outfit several times lately. It really is such a comfy option when you’re running errands and just want to be comfortable but not look grungy or sloppy. An outfit like this is also a great option if you’re traveling. I always freeze on planes, so wearing a dress, skirt, or shorts really isn’t an option for me, and who wants to sit in a seat that’s about 12 inches wide for several hours when you’re wearing skinny jeans? No thanks! Athleisure for me please!

Jogger Pants

Hello, everyone!

In the fashion world, trends come and go so quickly. Some stick around (the little black dress … thank you, Coco Chanel, you fashion goddess), and some are never to be seen again (tight rolling your jeans … UG! Why did we ever do that?). A trend that emerged in the fall was the jogger pant, which seems to be a part of the larger trend of stylish loungewear. I was unsure about the jogger pant at first, but I’m willing to consider a trend if it’s trying to combine comfort and style.

I love the marled fabric of these jogger pants, and the stripe down the side makes them seem a bit dressier than the lounge pants that they actually are. To keep from looking too lounge-y, I paired them with a long button-up shirt. And to make sure the outfit has some shape, I added a tie belt. My only issue with these jogger pants is that the fabric does stretch a bit, which makes them less fitted throughout the day. I prefer the slim look they have when I first put them on, but they’re comfortable either way.
